Letās get into it.
New World Championship (Silver)
RESULTS - šPAUL MCBETH & MARIA OLIVA
And with that, the Pro Tour has packed it up for the year. I hope you savored that last fix of live DG in Florida cause winter is here.
MPO/ Coming off an A-Tier win, Isaac Robinson was gunning for the elusive back-to-back. In Round 1, he led with -9 (1060 rated) followed by 4 others at -8.
Joined by his younger brother Ezra on Saturday, they became the 1st brothers to ever play on a DGPT lead card. But bad news for them, Paul McBeth decided to make his new hometown proud and shot a hot -11 (1071 rated).
With a 6-stroke lead, McBeth had fun in the Final Round. He grew his lead to 10 at one point but ended with 8 over Double G and 10 over the Robinson bros.
With his 1st DGPT Silver win, McBeth is now the hometown hero to Jacksonville (FL), Lynchburg (VA), and Huntington Beach (CA). The man of many homes plans to carry this casual win into next year.
FPO/ Also trying to run it back, Deann Carey took the lead of the smaller field in Round 1. But Maria Oliva took the reins and created a 3-stroke lead into Sunday.
She started to let nerves creep in on Hole 8 but shut them out and the field when it mattered. With her last win nearly a year ago, Oliva took down her 1st DGPT.
STANDOUT PLAYER
Gavin Rathbun has had a long year with injuries, recovery, and most recently a dog attack. Just before Saturdayās round, he got bit while protecting his cat.
He still played that day but dropped out mid-Sunday when it got worse. Recently moved to Florida, Rathbun had something to prove but it wasnāt meant to be.
Hereās to a promising 2023 when heās back in full force. Before the incident, he showed glimpses of his ceiling with a 460ā roller park job.
HIGHLIGHT
Finishing in 19th overall, Andrew Fish was robbed of a beautiful hyzer flip ace on Hole 15 Round 2.
Retirement for the Finnish Prodigy
Earlier this week, Seppo Paju officially announced his retirement from competitive disc golf. For the past 14 years, heās battled several generational greats and became the European poster child.
The now 28-year-old said he no longer has the same drive to compete that made him love the game. Despite past putting struggles, Paju is synonymous with effortless distance and buttery smooth BHs.
With his family running the Prodigy Disc Pro Tour in Europe, he wonāt be leaving the sport. Heās just shifting his focus from on to off the course.
So in honor of his storied career, re-watch his impossible eagle on Hole 17 of the 2018 Delaware DG Challenge. This hole is 860ā of uphill torture that has more trees in its narrow fairway than New Worldās entire course.
Fresh Plastic
Sponsored by Powergrip USAā¦ A PRETTY GOOD disc golf shop.
š Powergripās Highlight: Dynamic Discs Supreme Escape (9|5|-1|2)Dropping tomorrow (11/17) at 12PM ET, DDās hyped Supreme plastic is finally here for their flagship fairway driver.
This refresh isnāt just the introduction of Latitude64ās Royal plastic to DD. Itās a new mold that differs slightly from 2012ās original with a touch more dome.
Unlike Prodigy/Innova, this disc is smoother than a babyās bottom (zero sharp flashing) combined with the best-feeling plastic on the market - grippy and slightly gummy. With the PLH nearly identical to stock Fuzion Escapes, this is your next hyzer flip machine with ridiculous glide.
This mold was the 1st driver that made me understand what high glide really meant. IYKYK, but if you donāt then you need to find out.
Made in the same Swedish factory, Discmania has Kyle Kleinās Midnight Prowl II (5|5|-1|1) dropping today (11/16) at 11AM ET. This flip-up and ride midrange comes in new Meta plastic, making it more US and softer than Neo stock.
Random Triples
1ļøā£ Rumors were confirmed true, Nikko Locastro, his apparel brand (Flight Club), and his disc line (Sacred) were all picked up for multiple years by Lone Star Disc. With only Chandler Kramer on the roster (for now š), LSD snagged themselves a whale.
From his Nick & Matt Show interview, Locastro shared details on his move:
They reached out when he was at his worst and gave him an opportunity to show his best
Heās making more money than before
No longer throwing a mixed bag. Exclusively throwing LSD and getting his own line of discs
His apparel brand will be handled by them so he can focus on golf
Wants to add pros to his Fight Club/Sacred team
Regardless of your feelings on Locastro, heās clearly a ride-or-die for LSD now. Theyāre playing the high-risk high-reward game, and thereās no doubt heāll shout his support from the rooftops.
2ļøā£ At the beginning of the season, Ricky Wysocki launched his Sockibomb Foundation with their 1st Putt Initiative project. They send schools 50 putters and a basket to enhance Phys Ed programs.
To fund the initiative, Wysocki asked for donations while also promising to contribute based on his 2022 performance. With his Player of the Year season, his final donation total was:
Birdies (527): $13,175
Eagles (13): $1,300
Aces from himself and others (36): $36,000
Grand Total: $50,475
3ļøā£ With seasonal depression and off-season training kicking in, add āputting meditationā to your list. A Redditor adapted this mental technique from a 1996 basketball study.
All you do is sit and visualize yourself making putts. You āknow what a good putt looks and feels like, so visualizing (in theory) should improve accuracy like physically practicingā.
Now you have no excuse to skip practice putting at home, work, or the porcelain throne.
