DGPT Schedule Change Recap
7 months ago, the PDGA & DGPT effectively barred transgender women from participating in FPO Majors and Pro Tour events. 6 days ago, the DGPT effectively canceled 5 FPO events remaining this season.
For those needing a recap, hereās everything betweenā¦
FEB - Natalie Ryan initiates a lawsuit against the PDGA & DGPT in the state of CA
MAY - OTB Open (Stockton, CA)
Ryan won a temp injunction and played in Round 1
33 FPO players (Tattar, Allen, Hokom, etc.) spoke out against in the āStockton Declarationā
DGPT won the appeal and prevented Ryan from finishing
JUN - The Preserve Championship (Clearwater, MN)
Ryan won a temp injunction and played the entire event
Some FPO players held a press conference voicing their stance against
Rumors circulated that the DGPT might cut FPO in 2024
NOW - To āprotect competitive fairnessā and ālimit financial burdenā, the Tour canceled 2 Silver, 1 Elite+, and 2 Playoff Events with hopes of relocation
Supposedly >$100k has already been spent on legal fees
Some question whether the relocations will cost more than new lawsuits. Although the 2 ongoing could take years to resolve
Amongst the canceled events, the MVP Open is allowing ticket refund requests but asks for patience
The announcement has circulated through external and international news
As for reactions from FPO players, the mixed consensus is frustration and confusion, but ultimately trust in the DGPT for nowā¦
So whatās going to happen? There are still 2 Majors left in the season that have zero information released on their status - Worlds in VT and USWDGC in NC.
From Charlie Eisenhood (Ultiworld), thereās been word that Natalie Ryan plans to file an injunction for her to play at Worlds. Whether itās approved will be up to the courts in VT.
Regardless of what plays out for this season, the real unknown is what happens after. The PDGA & DGPT will likely use the off-season to re-evaluate or double down.

TOUR COVERAGE
European Open (Major)
PREVIEW (7/20-23)
The 2nd Major of the year is here. While it shares a tier with the newer Champions Cup, the European Open is a cut above and can be defined by one word: Iconic.
Already into its 1st day of 4, this is a true pro event with insane crowds, a pressure-filled atmosphere, and high-level golf. To some, this is a trip of a lifetime and the best tournament of the year.
And this time around, itāll feel like a true Major. With the sportās deeper pockets and growth, this will be the strongest field in the eventās history.
As for the course, The Beast at Nokia DiscGolfPark will be harder than ever with tightened OB. And finally, there will be an actual FPO layout that shortens some tees.
So set your alarms folksā¦ MPO Lead Card starts at 7:30 AM ET each day. The DGPT is providing a monster amount of coverage available to DGN subscribers.
There are nearly 100 hours of disc golf to be watched, and it could be even better than last yearās epic McDuel.
LAST YEAR RECAP
MPO/ š„Eagle McMahon (-42) š„Paul McBeth (-41) š„Kevin Jones (-25)
To say McMahon & McBeth were on another level is an understatementā¦ They transcended the field, and players could do nothing but enjoy the show.
With 5k spectators watching, McBeth fumbled Hole 17 to allow McMahon his 2nd Major win. With zero FHs, the Young Bird averaged 1074-rated golf in this instant classic.
FPO/ š„Paige Pierce (+12) š„Eveliina Salonen (+15) š„Henna Blomroos (+20)
The final scores donāt show Pierceās clawback from an 8-stroke deficit after 2 rounds. Her putt was the main contributor to her 3rd EO win and 17th Major win.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
While itās impossible to bet against Tattar, itās been 4 years since sheās played here. Even with the FPO layout, Eveliina Salonenās & Henna Blomroosās distance will get them a few strokes.
As for the men, thereās no telling who will rise to the occasion. With its capital M, every player wants to add this event to their wins list.
Will McBeth or McMahon continue where they left off? Will Heimburg get his 1st Major win? Or will an up-and-comer like Gossage, Anttila, or Isaac Robinson make history?
POWERED BY POWERGRIP USA
Simon Says Throw Glitsch
Simon Lizotte opted to skip the Europe Swing so that he could spend time at home. But just because heās on a break, doesnāt mean he isnāt chopping up his local track with his latest release.
The MVP & Powergrip Collab Glitsch has finally arrived. The Powergrip USA crew has been working around the clock to get pre-orders out the door.
And for those of you who forgot to orderā¦ The glow-rimmed Glitch is available now. Grab one and other discs from Powergrip USA today!
PRES CUP & BRACE TIMING
Random Dubs
1ļøā£ The 11th Presidents Cup took place yesterday. In the USA vs. Europe battle, 8 players from each team earned points through 9 holes of stroke play followed by 9 of match play.
Not only were tensions high, but so were the winds. With USAās undefeated streak (10-0) on the line, OB was easily found and putts were air-balled.
After stroke play, it was looking shaky for the Americans. But not wanting to be on the losing team, it came down to McBeth on The Beastās final hole.
The crowd got what it was promisedā¦ This was the most competitive matchup in event history. The day may never come when Team USA loses to Team Europe.
2ļøā£ Do you ever watch form videos, have a lightbulb moment, and immediately forget it? I do all the timeā¦ But thankfully, Matt Grayum from the Nick & Matt Show reminded me of an Overthrow DG āahaā moment.
In their video āCorrect Backhand Timingā, Josh explains the brace. Itās talked about more than ever for good reasonā¦ Fixing it can dramatically change your game.
Proper brace timing: All your weight transfers to the front foot first then the throwing motion happens. Weight shift shouldnāt happen simultaneously with your arms swinging forward.
