The best sporting event of the year happened over the weekend, and it wasnā€™t the Mastersā€¦ Joking aside, Jonesboro is always a treat.

In no particular order, here are the storylines you should remember or may have missed:

HIGHLIGHT

In his 3rd DGPT event ever, Waden Sides made history by acing the same hole back to back. The 16-year-old from Corpus Christi, TX, started playing about 3 years ago.

The only difference between his two aces is his shirt. No luck was needed with the same Neutron Time-Lapse.

Fresh Plastic

ā™¾ļø Infiniteā€™s Highlight: Clash Discs Tone Salt (12|5|-1|3)
This latest innovation by the Finnish manufacturer has now been out for almost 2 weeks.

Hereā€™s the verdict on it:

  • The ā€œundermoldā€ technology delivers as promised

  • It allows the disc to stay in the air AND push forward longer

  • The difference between the bottom and top plastics is very evident

  • Your thumb and palm will feel at home on the very grippy top

  • This run has both domey and flat versions

    • Domey will fly true to the numbers

    • Flat will have a tick more turn

Even if you think you donā€™t have the arm for a 12-speed, donā€™t shy away from this mold. Thereā€™s still a small handful of them left at Infinite Discs.

Clash has already started manufacturing their other molds in Tone technology, but donā€™t miss out on the 1st of better flying discs today!

1ļøāƒ£ Another week, another unloading of public complaints about DGN 2.0 and PDGA Live stats (or lack thereof). But even among the bit of controversy, the DGPT has revealed why theyā€™re going through these growing pains.

On Monday, a partnership between the DGPT and U.S. Integrity (USI) was announced. USI will monitor the Tourā€™s data identifying ā€œirregular contest-level and wagering patternsā€ in preparation for future opportunities.

Following the DGPTā€™s separation from UDisc, this is their next step toward sports betting. Itā€™s all the rage in every other form of competition, so this was inevitable.

After the announcement, the reactions ranged on whether this would explode or destroy our sport. And there was no shortage of questions on how itā€™ll go, how itā€™ll affect the players, and who stands to benefit.

Time will tell if more money and eyes will lead to more problems. But at least one day, you might be able to earn some cash when McBeth goes from washed back to top 20, top 10, or winning.

2ļøāƒ£ Thanks to Anthony Bodanza and his Infinite Discs signature release, a true legend of our game got some air time. Joe Rovere is a 2x Masters World Champ, middle school teacher, and the current best player who doesnā€™t tour.

Aside from Rovereā€™s impressive throws, he revealed his ā€œfunkyā€ fairway grip. Itā€™s a standard power grip but with his middle finger unfurled.

He claims itā€™s the only way he can prevent fairways from turning over. So apply this info to your own game as you see fit, but know that Rovere won the 2023 Masters World Long Drive comp.
