If you missed the MVP recap, then I got you: The MVP Spectacle

Letā€™s get into it.

Between The Ears

A noteworthy crossover was revealed earlier this week. Paul Ulibarri has been working with famous golf psychiatrist Dr. Bob Rottela.

From injury, illness, and an engagement, Uliā€™s season has had ups and downs. Recently heā€™s on an upswing going from missing the cutline to 3 cashes in a row, and he attributes that success to his work with Rottela.

He is the author of best-selling book, Golf is Not a Game of Perfect. This book is filled with stories and advice that has been recommended by pros and ams alike.

If youā€™ve struggled with the mental side of the game, then give this short book a chance. It could be the change in perspective to push your game to the next level.

Golfers must learn to love ā€˜the challenge when they hit a ball into the rough, trees, or sand. The alternatives - anger, fear, whining, and cheating - do no good.

Even though this book is about ā€˜ball golfā€™, the mental game remains the same. One day, it will be commonplace for pros, like Uli and Kona Panis, to work with professionals and improve mentally.

Gallery Boundaries

The ā€˜8 Holesā€™ bring a lot of energy and fun, but have they gone overboard? As the final card stepped onto the tee on Sunday, they had to wait for the fanfare to subside and spectators to leave the green.

The general Hole 8 procession included a slow clap as players approached, huge flags running across the green, ā€œsign the boardā€ chants for hitting drop zone putts, and general loud cheering.

But they arenā€™t an unorganized, rowdy crowdā€¦ The ā€˜8 Holesā€™ are led by Zak Benson and are considerate of players when possible. The Nick & Matt Show explained how they held back like not breaking out the vuvuzelas or quieting when players teed off on Hole 9.

On SmashboxxTV, Steve Dodge admitted that Hole 9ā€™s tee might need to move farther from the ā€˜8 Holesā€™. He also explained he works directly with Benson, loves the 8-holes, and has no plans to quench their energy.

The gallery at MVP Open has always been a discussion topic, sometimes positive sometimes negative. As the sport increases its legitimacy, ruckus crowds who have too much fun arenā€™t always a bad thing.

Random Dubs

1ļøāƒ£ Along with the DGPT Points Titles awarded on Maple Hillā€™s final hole, the top 4 players in MPO & FPO were recognized.

FPO/ 1ļø. Kristin Tattar 2. Paige Pierce 3. Catrina Allen 4. Ohn Scoggins

MPO/ 1. Ricky Wysocki 2. Paul McBeth 3. Calvin Heimburg 4. Gannon Buhr

Besides ageless wonder Scoggins, Buhr has had one of the most impressive season performances at 17 years old. The high schooler has demonstrated a level of consistency that not even 4x winner Lizotte can compete with.

While he says school is no more than annoying, he will graduate by the start of next season and will be stress-free off the course. Buhr didnā€™t believe he could make this his career until his 11th place finish at WACO 2021.

Since then, he barely lost LVCā€™s playoff, won his 1st DGPT Silver Series, and placed 4th in DGPT Points for 2022. Buhr is no longer a rising starā€¦ Heā€™s already arrived.

2ļøāƒ£ On The DG prescription Podcast hosted by touring pro Jon Nicholson, Bradley Williams explained the ā€˜itā€™ factor for winning: Commitment wins championships.

Itā€™s not the talent that youā€™re seeing. Itā€™s commitment. The person who wins the tournament every week is the person who committed the most on all their putts and all their drives. - Williams

But it also involves all aspects of the game. The commitment to your routine, practice, and each throw.

This can be translated to all players of any level. His instructions to committing:

  • Imagine what you can do with the disc

  • Envision your plan/line, even describe it to reinforce

  • Pick the disc, then commit without wavering
