Letâs get into it.
Drive for Dough?
Provided by PDGA STATS. Your go-to for in-depth analysis with âInside The Numbersâ & âTour Series Talk.â
Andrew Marwede has entered the conversation for the best putter in the world. His DGLO performance on the green is one of the most impressive in a single tournament.
He currently leads in both C1X and C2 putting percentages among players with at least 5 tournaments played this season. After leading in C1X putting during 2020, he finished just behind Corey Ellis in 2021 and has putted at or above 30% from C2 since becoming a touring pro in 2019.
All the while, his tee-to-green game struggles to keep up with the field on longer courses. He actually lost 1 stroke to the field at DGLO getting from tee to green.
Once in the woods though, Marwede has the ability to compete for the win with his accurate and powerful FH. Next weekâs, Ledgestone with the infamous Northwoods Black course is an event he has played very well at.
Mid America Open (Silver Series)
PREVIEW (8/5-7)
Before the 3-week grind of Ledgestone, Des Moines, & the World Championship, weâll be treated 3 rounds of the highly-rated Harmony Bends course.
Before Eagles Crossing, this course has been #1 in the state of MO for years. Itâs a John Houck design with beautiful water features, elevation changes, and lots of trees.
Itâs also notorious for flooding. Harmony Bends is located in a floodplain and occasionally experiences extreme flash flooding.
Thankfully, the forecast looks clear all weekend. So the pros who decided to play on an âoff-weekâ will have one less thing to worry about.
LAST YEAR RECAP
MPO/ Due to flooding, competitors played Albert-Oakland Park instead. As a result, many notables dropped out and prepped for DDO instead.
The backup course was much easier and caused minimal separation. Round 1 saw 20 people within 2 strokes of the lead, then Round 2 whittled it down to 8.
The final round was no walk in the park. But Kyle Klein stayed calm, cool, and collected while dueling Dickerson in his Sunday best. Klein scored -10 with 10 birdies to win his 1st DGPT event.
FPO/ With only 15 attendees, those not fighting at the top were quickly left behind. Heather Young & Ellen Widboom were matched up each day, but Young kept it consistent and took it down averaging 954 rated golf.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Gannon Buhr could have an interesting performance at this track where heâs never competed before. While his DGLO 12th place wasnât exactly to his standards, he came off a victory at the Clash of the Canyons the week before.
He already has a DGPT Silver Series victory this year at the Masters Cup. So he may be able to thrive with this off-week competition.
Youâll be able to watch the coverage live for the final round on DGN. Or on next-day coverage at the DGPT YouTube channel.
The Biggest Event
The only event of its kind is happening this weekend. Since 2012, the Womenâs Global Event is the largest PDGA event for a single demographic in disc golf.
Last year, there were over 3k women participating in 99 tournaments across the globe. Each of them played 2 rounds that were averaged to determine the playerâs âGlobal Score.â
Theyâre then matched up against thousands of other competitors to determine the Event Champions who receive trophies. If you or your SO werenât aware, there may still be time to sign up for one of the 126 events.
This is an amazing opportunity that happens every other year where local women thrive and compete with their peers. Itâs very unlike your typical C-Tier where only a few sign up for womenâs divisions.
Random Dubs
1ď¸âŁ Do you have putters/mids collecting dust on your Walmart shoe rack or Ikea Vesken? And you still hold on to them, cause you never know when you might want to switch putters for the 10th time?
Instead, consider shipping them to UPlay for their Recycled Disc Program. Your Buzzz that got replaced by a Hex will do wonders for a kid learning how to play.
2ď¸âŁ Casey White hosted Andrew Zimmern on his vlog. Itâs a long one (56 min), so here are a few great moments with timestamped links:

Thanks for reading today. Get out and be a World Champ this weekend!
