🇫🇮 The Tour of the "2nd Best Disc Golf Country"
Flappy Bird, Ride the Wave, and Gas
Hello and welcome, this is The Players Meeting. Your twice-a-week consolidation of disc golf in a clean, readable email.Est Read Time: 4 Minutes & 39 Seconds
Settle into your chair and wipe the tired from your eyes. It’s a short week, and disc golf’s on the mind.
Let’s get into it.
Prodigy Disc Pro Tour
While we Americans were enjoying the long weekend, the Fins were battling it out in Heinola on the PDPT - premier tour of the Finnish Disc Golf Association.
This year it totals 5 events across the European country. Like the DGPT, players earn points, and the Tour crown is awarded to the highest earners.
The PDPT has a subscription-based broadcast network - Disc Golf Stream. But they’ve flipped the model by airing the 1st live round free while putting the tournaments’ ends behind a paywall.
RESULTS - 🏆 JOONA HEINÄNEN & EVELIINA SALONEN
This weekend played at the 5th best course in the World, Kippasuo Pro. The course has beautiful wooded fairways and top-notch maintenance.
You probably don’t know the top MPO finishers, but it ended in playoff fashion between Joona Heinänen & Joni Peltonen. And your boy, Seppo Paju, wasn’t far off finishing in 3rd.
On the FPO side, Eveliina Salonen was able to find her putt being back home. Her recent struggles were non-existent. Salonen hit 82% of her C1X putts to win by 11 strokes over Henna Blomroos.
Salonen will be back on the US Tour starting with The Preserve (6/24). If she replicates a fraction of her putts, then she could be in the running for Player of the Year.

A Coach’s Coach
Earlier this month, Paul Ulibarri shared his plan to develop a curriculum to teach and certify instructors. But he’s not the only one who believes that this coaching gap needs to be filled.
Josh White & Mikey O’Brien at Overthrow DG are pushing for the same goal. Speaking with UDisc, Josh shared how their background as full-time tennis coaches prepared them to take DG to the next level.
They started out with popular, easy to digest drills like “Twirly Bird” and the “Box Drill.” But recently, they’ve expanded the brand past instructional YouTube videos.
Working with pros like McBeth and Philo, the pair helps players strengthen their brands and reach fans easily. While at the same time, they’re developing their own coaching certification system.

Insights by OTB Discs… Where the discs are VIRTUALLY IN YOUR HAND.
🛸 OTB’s Highlight: MVP Eclipse 2.0 Wave (11|5|-2|2)The OTB Open may be over, but the MVP runs with tourney stamps are still popping off. One in particular is the Eclipse 2.0 Wave. The best glow in the game got paired up with their best understable driver for the 1st time.
This pairing is a match made in heaven. Typical Waves are hyzerflip machines, but they’re a bit OS in Eclipse. If you’ve been searching for a stock Star Wraith with a (3) in flatness, then this is going to be your FH workhorse.
Besides the Wave, all the tourney molds are getting a $4 discount. Scoop up a fox or turbine stamp at normal stock pricing. My eyes are on the Plasma Orbital… Your favorite retailer is the only place that has them.
Random Dubs
1️⃣ If you live near a Tour stop or want a unique spectator experience, then Ian Anderson of CCDG will get you a free media pass and a Bushnell range finder.
He’s already got commitments for many events but still needs help at a few including Silver Series. You’ll have to convince one of your buddies to join you in chasing down pin distances.
But as compensation, you’ll get to practically smell Wysocki’s knee fluids and hear Gibson’s eargasmic throws. Not to be forgotten is the free rangefinder you get to keep.
If this interests you, then hit up Ian’s inbox: [email protected]
2️⃣ Shooting hot at a tournament is an amazing feeling but getting shot at doesn’t enter the mind. At the Kansas City Flying Disc Challenge this past weekend, a player was shot in a random act of violence at Kessler Park (Cliff Drive).
Some good news though… Ricky Wysocki’s foundation set up a fund for Jake Riley and his family. Take a second to consider helping out this week.
We at the Sockibomb Foundation want to help a fellow disc golf family member in need. Jake Riley was randomly attacked and shot during a tournament this weekend. So 100% of the donations made to the foundation during the next week will go straight to him!
