RESULTS - 🏆GANNON BUHR & KRISTIN TATTAR

Before the event started, many weren’t optimistic about the “upgrades” to historic WACO. But after the final putt, I’d say it lived up to the hype and proved that “Everything’s bigger in TX.”

In no particular order, here are the storylines you should remember or may have missed:

HIGHLIGHT

As always, it’s tough to pick just one highlight. From AB’s H11 ace to Jake Wolff’s H5 ace, the win goes to 2 ridiculous overhands on the BEast’s Hole 17.

To truly appreciate them, here’s the detailed map. You have to be crazy to attempt this, but you look like a genius when you pull it off. Stoll & Ben Wolff are on another level.

Fresh Plastic

♾️ Infinite’s Highlight: Mint Discs Taco (5|5|0|2)
We’re deep in the TX Swing now, and nothing hits like tacos in the Lone Star State.

From the city of Austin, Mint Discs dropped its latest midrange last week. It’s mostly flat, has a bead, and comes in Apex (aka MVP Neutron).

This run of MVP’s flagship plastic is soft but not too soft. Slotting between straight and beefy, the Taco has workable overstability for both FH & BH.

You can expect a glidey flight that finishes with a predictable bite. If you haven’t already jumped on the Axiom Pyro (5|4|0|2.5) bandwagon, then this can be your tasty alternative.

It’s a workhorse mid that’s MVP-made and TX-approved. Fill that empty slot in your bag with Infinite Discs!

QUICK HITS
Random Dubs

1️⃣ Brian Schweberger (aka Schwebby) is about to go down in disc golf history. Over the weekend, he locked down his 399th career win at the Alamance County Pro-Am (Burlington, NC).

Schwebby’s PDGA history goes back to 1998. Since then, he’s stacked up wins throughout MPO, MP40, MP50, and a Major at the 2013 Tim Selinske US Masters.

He hit #300 back in 2021 and only ramped up his collecting since. On the recent Fish Golf Brah-dcast, Matt Dollar (fellow East Coast legend) brought up 2 things he’s learned from Schwebby over the years.

  1. Only practice putt from 27’ cause “if you can make it from there then you can make it from 5’ farther”

  2. Have no expectations

Supposedly, he has 2 baskets at his house 27’ apart. And one has no actual basket to catch discs, so he’ll never expect his putt to stick.

Genius or not, Schwebby’s going for his 400th career win on Friday.

2️⃣ Track athlete and fitness coach - Nick Krush - is continuing his journey to a 90mph BH. Just last week, he hit 85mph.

Hopefully, he’ll make it out to one of the distance comps this year. Living in FL, he’s got the Worlds Long Drive (VA) and the US Distance Championship (SC) not far.
