RESULTS - šŸ†EZRA ROBINSON & CHANTEL BUDINSKY

This was the ideal weekend to spend time on the course instead of the couch. Letā€™s give you the quick hits of this Silver, so we can get to the good stuff.

1 - The Canadians made the jump across Lake Ontario.

Steeped in history, Jim Palmeriā€™s AFDO is the longest-running event in our history. It helped bring our sport into the fold and continues to do so in an active region.

Being just 7 miles from Lake Ontario, the Canadians showed up in force. And making her home country proud, Chantel ā€œMiss Frisbeesā€ Budinsky became the 1st to ever take down a DGPT.

From Ontario, sheā€™s been on Tour part-time for the past two seasons. And before Sunday, her best finish was 9th at Idlewild.

But really her claim to fame is her popularity on YouTube (12k subs) and Instagram (18k followers). Before Sunday, Budinsky hadnā€™t found much success on Tour, but now sheā€™s trending up with this 969-rated win.

2 - Mission Accomplished: He got exactly what he came for.

The Parma DGC was as advertised. Without being gimmicky, the wooded lines were no joke and had a variety of low ceilings, tunnel shots, and scrambling.

With hundreds in attendance, the younger Robinson brother threw straight fire. On Saturday, he broke the layout record with -10 (1069-rated), then broke it again the next day with a -13 (1092-rated).

His performance was reminiscent of Isaacā€™s win at Champions Cup back in April. Ezra showed off the full package: power, accuracy, putting, and complete control.

There was nothing the field could do. Wolff threw fastballs and tomahawks. The legendary Canadian - Hendel - threw Grandpa rollers. And Matty O was a 1st down machine hitting 47% in C2.

With his 1st DGPT win behind him, Robinson has a huge boost of confidence going into the biggest event. He just has to get past his closest rival.

Isaac would not have won if he came, so itā€™s good he didnā€™t.

HIGHLIGHTS

On Sunday, Ezra threw a dream-worthy eagle. Using his super-flippy Prodigy H7, he pureā€™d the gap and laid down the roller to 20ft.

PREVIEW (8/30-9/3)

Itā€™s getting to be that time of the yearā€¦ No, Iā€™m not talking about pumpkin spice and glow rounds. Iā€™m talking about the most important tournament.

Itā€™s Worlds week, and tomorrow is the 1st day of 5 up at Smugglersā€™ Notch in VT. This is the unanimous favorite stop of the season and come Sunday itā€™ll crown two World Champs.

Pros love EVERYTHING about this event because itā€™s #1 in amenities, nature, fall vibes, and the best pair of courses. Together, Fox Run Meadows and Brewster Ridge reward the most well-rounded.

First up is Brewster. Angle control is king in these woods, and the importance is on getting off the tee and into the landing zones.

But it wouldnā€™t be Worlds week without a nod to The Holy Shot. Ezra Robinson shared his POV of Conradā€™s throw-in, and I had never seen it before (audio on recommended).

LAST WORLDS RECAP

MPO/ šŸ„‡Paul McBeth (-46) šŸ„ˆAaron Gossage (-46) šŸ„‰Tanner/Clemons/Orum (-42)

It was redemption for McBeth who would go on to win a Worlds playoff on an island hole. It was his 6th World title & 17th Major.

FPO/ šŸ„‡Kristin Tattar (-38) šŸ„ˆHenna Blomroos (-30) šŸ„‰ Holyn Handley (-25)

At the tail end of her amazing season, Tattar gave a masterclass in closing to become the 2nd European to ever win Worlds.

LAST GMC RECAP

Since last year was in Kansas, letā€™s remind ourselves of the Green Mountain Championship. It was 2 weeks after Worlds.

MPO/ šŸ„‡Ricky Wysocki (-34) šŸ„ˆOrum/I. Robinson/Dickerson (-31)

Starting with a 2-stroke lead, Wysockiā€™s final round was filled with drama. Early rain led to Umbrella Gate and eventually a Dickerson charge.

But Fox Runā€™s Hole 18 had other plans. Dickerson drove OB and allowed Wysocki to close out his 5th GMC win.

FPO/ šŸ„‡Kristin Tattar (-10) šŸ„ˆHenna Blomroos (-3) šŸ„‰ Ohn Scoggins (+1)

It was just a re-run of Worlds. Tattarā€™s consistency was unmatched and earned her her 4th Tour win in a row.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

This is going to be a Worlds for the ages. Coming in less than 100%, McBeth is under the gun to continue his streakā€¦ Could this be the year to fade McBeast out of the Top 2?

Clearly, Wysocki has a winning history on these courses and has the biggest chip on his shoulder. He hasnā€™t won a Major in 6 years since his 2nd World title.

And then thereā€™s everyone else getting hot at the right time: Lizotte, Buhr, Dickerson, KJ USA, the Robinson brothers, Redalen, and the list goes on and on.

In FPO, thereā€™s only one questionā€¦ Did Tattarā€™s 892-rated round in Estonia mean anything?

She mostly squashed any concerns with her and Silverā€™s 2nd place in Saturdayā€™s Mixed Dubs. But until her 1st round is complete tomorrow, then itā€™s still a storyline.

Behind the reigning champ is Ohn Scoggins. Arguably the 2nd best in the world, she already earned herself $150 and a Dubs Worlds title with Joel Freeman.

POWERED BY POWERGRIP USA
Fresh Plastic

šŸ‘‰ Powergripā€™s Highlight: Kyle Kleinā€™s Lux Logic (3|3|0|1)
For the 1st time, the Discmania Logic is dropping in premium plastic tomorrow (8/30) at 11 AM ET.

This is a phenomenal throwing putter for those who want the flight of a P2 but donā€™t like its bulky hand feel. If you hit it hard flat, it wonā€™t turn and will have a touch of fade at the end.

Being in premium plastic, this run has the slightest of domes, unlike the board flat base plastic runs. So set a reminder and grab the shallow P2 that does it all tomorrow at Powergrip USA.

DG HISTORY & FORM TIP
Random Dubs

1ļøāƒ£ At this point, you must have scrolled past dozens of posts begging you to sign a petition and save the Stafford Woods course. Iā€™m here to convince you to click and do your part.

Hereā€™s the lowdown in 30 seconds:

  • After a complaint from the next-door winery, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection is closing the 39th-best course in the world

  • 3-5 holes are on restricted land that only permits ā€œpassive recreationā€

  • The Township plans to remove all course amenities and restore the property

  • On Friday, Finlay Buchanan-Jacobs created the petition that has over 15k signatures

So stop scrolling, and sign the petition here. Finlay says it could help convince the DEP that disc golf is permitted.

2ļøāƒ£ Over 300k of you have seen Joel Freemanā€™s window tip and claimed it changed your life. If you havenā€™t, he says the #1 form issue is that players donā€™t space their front and back legs apart enough.

Wrong vs. Right

As demonstrated, a wider stance will engage your hips and allow you to throw farther. But last week, Holyn Handley urged a warning on widening your stance.

Optimal spacing is different for everyone and going to the extremes can hurt not help.
